Burke-Gilman Trail
Burke-Gilman serves as a staple for social recreation and fitness, so it also offers an access road for shuttling to the University of Washington and work with its 19 miles between Bothell and Seattle. The trail has inspired several similar projects around the country as the first rail-trail in the country built in the 1970s. Daniel Gilman and Thomas Burke created it in 1885, and in 1901, the Northern Pacific Railroad purchased it. And through 1963, heavy traffic by the logging industry sustained the line.
